7 beauty tips for date night
Ladies, whether you’re going to dinner with your boo or getting lit with your gal pals, let’s make sure you’re looking radiant for Valentine’s Day!
Here are some of my basic beauty tips and favorite products when it comes to a night on the town…
1. Get your glow on.
Naturally you should be exfoliating your skin on a daily basis. But if you really want your skin to glow, I recommend using a salicylic or glycolic acid peel at least one or two times a week.
For you newbies, maybe stick to one time. Remember to make sure you drink plenty of water the week prior.
Oh, and I know you’ve all heard this one before but it is so true — take all of your makeup off before going to bed each night.
2. If you can’t tone it, tan it.
We can’t all be perfectly toned like Sarah Kohan, but we can get her tan!
If you’re in a rush and are too late to get a spray, grab some Jergens! Seriously, what would we do without Jergens and Sublime bronzer.
Apply it that morning, that way you can at least have a few hours for it to set in before you shower for the night.
3. Hair: Fail to plan, plan to fail.
Whether you want to have the perfect curls that night or you want stick-straight hair — PLAN IT.
You can avoid the last minute stress if you decide and stick to it. Nothing is worse than having freshly washed hair and deciding you want to have curls last minute and they fall out within the hour.
And if you need to get your hair colored — book a few weeks prior! Our girl Breana can help you out with color or if you want to get it done up for date night (like above), too.
4. Get kiss-worthy lips.
Before you apply your makeup, use a gentle lip scrub to get rid of any dead skin. This will make sure lipstick goes on smoothly and your lips won’t get chapped throughout the night.
As for color, I like to go with a matte lipstick, which my favorite is Velvet Teddy from MAC.
ColourPop also makes a ton of great shades which is way more affordable than Kylie Lipkits (which I am still a huge fan of.) And don’t be afraid to mix and match with your colors and lip liners!
5. Find the perfect fragrance.
Choosing the right scent is crucial for date night. Choose what vibes you are trying to feel for the night and run with it!
Our girls Lyndsey and Finney can hook you up with the best natural fragrances to bring out your inner earth goddess, with their line Luna Noel.
Beachy babe? Go with Sea. Mountain mama? Go with Woods. Firey spirit? Go with Desert. Dreamer? Go with Clouds.
6. Get your lashes on point.
Lashes are my favorite part — and for good reason. A good set of lashes really makes your eyes pop. Especially since it’s not an everyday thing, it’s fun to throw on a pair for special occasions.
If you’re in Orange County and you want the best lashes ever, you have to call Hopi Tran! She seriously kills it when it comes to lash extensions — see her ad at the bottom of this page. Plus, she has great pricing!
If you’re not looking to commit to extensions and just want some falsies, we’ve got you covered, too.
Amazon has these great mink lashes.
Or if you need a quick pick up, I recommend using Ardell lashes which you can buy over the counter at CVS or Walgreens (I prefer 105 or 117).
7. Highlight and contour, baby.
Even if you don’t know how to properly contour, try using the Anastasia pallet from Sephora. It really does help even if you don’t know the proper steps.
I like to contour last so that it will stay the longest, following up with a highlighter from NARS. If you don’t want to break the bank, Amazon’s Aesthetica contour kit is also an awesome option.
If you are trying to save money last minute, CVS and Target both have come out with some comparable brands that are half the cost.
Stick to these tips and you’ll be rocking date night like a champ.
Oh, and since it’s Valentine’s Day, don’t be afraid to rock a classic red lip, ladies!
