Five things singles can do on Valentine’s Day

Having to explain why you are single on Valentine’s Day is just as bad, if not worse, than explaining to your 90-year-old grandma why you are still single during the holidays.

And then once you’ve explained why you’re single a thousand times (because Mr. Right hasn’t found me yet, DUH) your single self ends up celebrating Valentine’s Day like Elle Woods after Warner dumped her.

Not a good look.

In my opinion, Valentine’s Day is an over-commercialized holiday in which couples spend too much money on flowers, chocolate and dinner.

Sure, you could say I’m not exactly “pro-Valentine’s Day” but it’s only because, in my opinion, we don’t need a specific day to know whether or not our man loves us.

Still, one thing I can go along with for the holiday is spreading the love to all your homies and gal pals, and yes, your significant other, too.

Before you go hating V Day because you’re single, we’ve got some activities to help you spread that love, starting with loving thyself.

1. Treat yo’ self

Yeah, baby. Spread the love with yo’ damn self!

Whether this means going to the spa to get a massage, mani/pedi, facial or even eating at a new restaurant you’ve been wanting to try “treat yo’ self” because you deserve to be pampered!

This also can mean purchasing that new dress you’ve been staring at or those new wireless headphones that are sitting in your cart.

Time to treat yourself!

2. Throw a party

Again, you don’t need a bae to celebrate! Who doesn’t love a good party?

Valentine’s Day is the perfect excuse to get dolled up, get your drink on, and get your eat on.

If you are type A you can even plan out and play fun drinking games or do a white elephant gift exchange where everyone brings a gift and tries to steal the best gift.

Otherwise, get some pink confetti, red glitter and pink champagne and get festive with your pals!

3. Set goals

Now this may sound cheesy, but again, this goes back to loving yourself!

While all of your taken friends are out spending money, you can update your bucket list or write out a list of goals you want to achieve this year (while drinking wine of course).

4. Workout

OK, I know that sounds crazy but if you have been wanting to spice up your workout routine and burn those calories you might as well while everyone else is stuffing their faces.

Whether it’s that fierce circuit training video you’ve been wanting to try or the craziest new yoga moves you saw on Instagram, getting a sweat in will feel rewarding. And, BONUS — your glass of vino will feel even more deserved!

5. Relax

This is similar to “treat yo’ self” but instead you don’t have to leave your house and you don’t need to spend a dime.

Cozy up in your favorite pajamas or robe and do whatever helps you relax and unwind.

That could be drinking an entire bottle of wine while binge watching Netflix, baking a cake listening to your favorite jams or getting snuggled up and reading a book. Or maybe a bubble bath is calling your name?

It’s your house and your day, you do you!

As for me, I will be consuming loads of wine this Valentine’s Day to celebrate.

What? It’s red — I call that being quite festive.
